80" TV mounted on exterior brick wall with full-motion arm and weatherproof cable management.
Guy had a large, well-furnished patio space beside his pool — outdoor seating, stone pavers, space for entertaining. What it was missing was a focal point. The exterior brick wall of the house was a blank canvas. The goal: mount an 80" TV on that wall and turn it into an outdoor entertainment space for pool days, game days, and gatherings.
Outdoor installations come with requirements that indoor work doesn't. The mounting surface was painted brick. The TV needed a full-motion arm long enough to extend over the patio seating for multiple viewing angles. And all cabling had to be protected from weather — NC summers include heat, humidity, and rain.
Masonry on an exterior wall. Brick is a strong mounting surface but requires masonry anchors rated for the TV weight — not standard drywall hardware. An 80" TV can weigh 90–110 lbs. Add a full-motion arm with extension and the leverage on the anchor points increases significantly. Heavy-duty masonry anchors were used at each mounting point, rated well above the load.
Full-motion on a long arm for a 80" TV. Large TVs on articulating arms require the arm mechanism to be rated for the combined weight and extended leverage. We used a heavy-duty full-motion mount with the reach needed to position the TV for comfortable viewing from multiple spots around the patio.
Weather-resistant cable management outdoors. Standard cable concealment doesn't apply outdoors. All cabling was routed through a weather-resistant enclosure mounted to the brick — protecting the connections from rain, humidity, and temperature changes while keeping the installation looking clean and intentional.
Masonry anchors were set into the brick at the correct spacing for the mount's bracket pattern. The heavy-duty full-motion mount was installed with the arm reach calibrated for the patio's seating layout — extended, the TV positions comfortably for viewing from the outdoor furniture. Retracted, it sits closer to the wall.
All cables — power and signal — were routed through a weather-resistant junction box mounted on the brick beside the TV. The box is weatherproof, ventilated, and matches the white brick wall. Clean appearance from the patio. Protected from the elements.
Height was set to work from seated patio furniture — the center of the 80" screen at comfortable eye level from the outdoor chairs, accounting for the slight downward tilt available on the full-motion arm.
An empty exterior wall became a functional outdoor entertainment space. The 80" TV on the full-motion arm covers the entire patio seating area — you can watch from anywhere in the space and adjust the angle as needed. The before/after is exactly what it looks like: a plain brick wall, and then a proper outdoor entertainment setup.
This is now used for pool days, weekend sports, and outdoor gatherings. The kind of setup that gets used constantly because it was done right the first time.
