A complete two-room TV installation for one client: a 98" TCL in a bonus room with a built-in cabinet wall, and an 85" Sony in an open-plan living room with a cathedral ceiling.
The bonus room features a custom dark walnut built-in cabinet wall with a dedicated TV bay flanked by panel doors. The space was designed for a large-format display — and Chris went all the way with a 98" TCL, one of the largest consumer TV sizes available.
Installing a 98" panel into a built-in cabinet requires precise alignment on all axes — the TV has to sit centered in the opening, level, and at the correct depth relative to the cabinet face. The mounting hardware is anchored into the cabinet structure, which means verifying that the backing is solid enough to carry the weight of a panel this size before committing to any bracket position.
The result: the 98" TCL sits flush in the cabinet opening, centered between the panel doors, with clean sight lines from the seating area across the room.
The living room is a large open-plan space with a vaulted cathedral ceiling — a completely different installation environment from the bonus room. Here, the 85" Sony is mounted on a flat wall between the windows, anchored into the framing behind drywall at the correct viewing height for the seating arrangement.
With a room this size and a ceiling this tall, getting the TV height right matters. Too high and it strains the neck; too low and it disappears into the furniture. We positioned the 85" Sony at the optimal height for the sofa distance, ensuring comfortable viewing from anywhere in the room.
The floor-standing speakers and soundbar in front complete the home theater setup — the TV mount is the foundation that everything else is built around.
