Mounting a TV above the fireplace is the most common request we get — and also the one that requires the most thought. Done right, it looks stunning. Done wrong, it's uncomfortable to watch and potentially damaging to your TV.
We assess every fireplace install individually: heat output, wall material (drywall, brick, stone, tile), cable routing options, and optimal viewing height based on your couch and room layout. You get a recommendation before we drill anything.
Gas fireplaces generally produce safe heat levels for TV mounting. Wood-burning fireplaces may require additional clearance or a heat shield. We check heat output and recommend the correct mounting height and hardware for your specific fireplace type.
Above-fireplace TVs sit higher than normal eye level. A full-motion mount lets you tilt the screen down 10–15 degrees — which dramatically improves viewing comfort and reduces neck strain. We include full-motion hardware on most fireplace installs.
Drywall above a fireplace is the easiest install — standard studs, standard hardware. Brick and stone require masonry anchors rated for the TV weight. Tile surrounds need specialty fasteners. We bring the right hardware for every surface type.
Getting cables from the TV down to your media console is the trickiest part of a fireplace install. On drywall, we run cables inside the wall for a completely clean look. On brick or stone, we use a surface raceway that can be painted to match. Either way, no dangling cables.
